We’ve got almost a cashless society: Mustafa Jabbar

The Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar commented that the Digital Bangladesh has been enjoying the benefits in various sectors of Bangladesh. He said, Bangladesh is an agricultural country which is now the envy of many in technology. One of the major results of digitalization is that, we have almost got a cashless society at hand. On Monday (12 December) on the occasion of Digital Bangladesh Day, he commented so to the reporters during the break of digital postal service exhibition and discussion meeting. Mustafa Jabbar said that one of the benefits of digital Bangladesh is Bangladesh Postal Department's mobile financial service ‘Nagad’. We can now cash out, cash in, shop through mobile financial services. And ‘Nagad’ plays a big role in this case. Starting in 2019, ‘Nagad’ has now become one of the most popular services in the country. Digital Bangladesh Day was celebrated at Dak Bhaban organized by Bangladesh Posts and Telecommunications Division. On this occasion, the Department of Posts organized a digital postal service exhibition. Apart from this, a discussion meeting was held which was presided over by the Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Md. Khalilur Rahman. Director General (Additional Duties) of the Department of Posts Md. Harunur Rashid welcomed the meeting. The main article was presented by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Mahfuzul Islam. He said, in actual sense, the most digitization has happened in Bangladesh in the economic sector. Especially MFS has revolutionized the field. As an example, Bangladesh Postal Department Service’s ‘Nagad’ can be mentioned. Secretary of Bangladesh Post and Telecommunication Division Md. Khalilur Rahman presided over the event. . He shared his experience about digital Bangladesh with everyone and urged everyone that they should try to become more suitable for the digital world from their places. Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited Managing Director Dr. Md. Rafiqul Matin, Director General of Bangladesh Telecommunication Control Commission, Brigadier General Md. Nasim Parvez was present. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder was present as the special guest. Earlier, eight digital service stalls of the postal department were installed at the digital postal service exhibition. The stalls included - EMTS & Postal Cash Cards, Online Postal Life Insurance & Savings, Domestic Mail Monitoring Software, Franking, Bulk Mail Booking & Delivery, Bhoomiseba by Post, Philately, IPL.Post, CDS.Post, Track & Trace and Department of Posts Mobile Financial Services’ ‘Nagad’. The Chief Guest of the function, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications and other guests visited the stalls. Guests came to ‘Nagad’ stalls and asked about cash out, cash in and send money. Apart from this they also learnt about shopping using ‘Nagad’ account. The officials of ‘Nagad’ explained the guests an idea about those matters.
